Poppies Wins DERIX Holzbaupreis 2025

We’re thrilled to share that Poppies has won the DERIX Holzbaupreis 2025, a recognition of its innovative timber construction. Comprising 103 Derix modules, Poppies was designed and engineered by Marc Koehler Associates and brought to life through the Superwood ecosystem of advisors and partners for MaMa Pioneers.

At MaMa Pioneers, we’re reimagining how homes are created - building modular, circular, and community-focused environments that respond to today’s housing needs with the future in mind.

Our partner Derix Group takes us inside their factory to reveal how the prefabricated timber modules for Poppies were built. Each module is 4 meters wide and over 13 meters long, produced under controlled conditions for maximum efficiency, safety, and quality. Around 60% of the work that would normally happen on-site was completed in the factory, drastically shortening the construction process and reducing its environmental footprint.

This collaboration exemplifies a shared belief that the future of housing lies in smarter, more human-centred construction methods - designed for both people and the planet.
