Robin Wood Marks a Milestone with Final Foundation Pile Screwed

Over 620 piles now anchor what will become one of Europe’s largest massive timber city blocks, blending housing, culture, and community.

Last week, we celebrated a special moment at the Robin Wood construction site on Centrumeiland, Amsterdam. Under the summer sun, with live music by the Espoir Brass Quintet from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, we gathered for the “Schroeffeest” — marking the screwing of the final foundation piles into the ground.

Bestuurder Stadsdeel Oost, Jan-Bert Vroeger, gave the official signal to screw the last pile, completing the foundation that now secures more than 620 piles, some reaching up to 30 metres deep. These piles will support a vibrant new city block: 165 rental homes, a public library, artist studios, rehearsal spaces for conservatory students, shops, offices, a café, and a Tiny Forest at its heart.

Robin Wood is a project where circular building, social value, and cultural programming come together. It sets a new standard for creating meaningful urban places — spaces to live, work, learn, and meet.

We are proud to be shaping this future alongside our partners, bringing sustainability, innovation, and community to the city of Amsterdam.
